Kinky? Think you might be?

Fightclub Ohio is an organization where kinksters aged 21 to 40 of any and all sexual persuasions may enjoy an emotionally and physically safe place to express their individual fetishes without fear of censure or exposure. We endeavor to further the education, acceptance, and fellowship of our members through monthly munches, seminars, and play parties as well as other less-structured events and activities. Our membership treasures the security of an environment that is free of destabilizing and polarizing influences and will work to protect this quality.

If you’re interested in the BDSM scene (or think you might be) join our mailing list and come to one of our munches. We’d love to meet you.

Why the name Fightclub?

Actor Edward Norton described the film Fight Club as a dark surrealist look at young people’s failures to interact with the value system of which they are expected to be a part, and their frustrations over being confined in this system. Norton went on to explain that the fighting between the men stripped away the fear of pain, leaving them to really experience something valuable. Fight clubs served not to promote or glorify the notion of violence, but to demonstrate that experiencing pain could be liberating in and of itself.

Then there’s the dichotomy of Tyler Durden - mild mannered, submissive, and unsuspecting, versus brash, dominant, and (literally) provocative. This can be interpreted in many different ways: some people are vanilla by day and kinky by night, others are wholly dominant or wholly submissive, and then there are those who are the two ends of the power spectrum, encompassed in the same person. Not everyone can say “I want you to hit me as hard as you can” and mean it. Or take it, for that matter.

The members of the fight clubs sought camaraderie in a group where they can engage in something that they find liberating, but that the world at large would find unacceptable. They found a safe place where they could become who they really were - a persona that society would not let them be - and be with others just like them, without fear of being judged or “outed.” They could recognize each other in the community in that way which only those who have experienced the same enlightenment can.

All of these qualities are ones that we strive to emulate and encourage. We want for Fightclub to be a safe space where people can express the sadomasochistic side of themselves in the company of like-minded others. We want our members to be free in ways that they otherwise could not be. We hope that they have a near-life experience for themselves, with a group of people who become more than just single-serving friends.
