From a gift I was given.

Verse 1A way that can be walked    is not The WayA name that can be named    is not The NameTao is both Named and NamelessAs Nameless, it is the origin of all thingsAs Named, it is the mother of all thingsA mind free of thought,   merged within itself,   beholds the essence of TaoA mind filled with thought,   identified with its own perceptions,   beholds the mere forms of this worldTao and this world seem different   but in truth they are one and the sameThe only difference is in what we call themHow deep and mysterious is this unity   How profound, how great! It is the truth beyond truth,   the hidden within the hiddenIt is the path to all wonder,   the gate to the essence of everything!

Something came up that reminded me of the mindset of many subs and slaves, and the advice I had often given.

To those subs and slaves that feel that thier bodies belong to thier masters and doms, when you are NOT in a relationship, consider your bodies the property of your future masters and doms and take care of them appropriately. This also includes your minds and mental health. You are only in custody of them until you meet your future master or dom. Something came up that reminded me of the mindset of many subs and slaves, and the advice I ha

There are some concepts in Gor that I feel are relevant in this lifestyle. Here is one that I approve of in hairstyes, taken from Kajira of Gor. Forgive the formatting.

'And this cut,' said the woman, herself a slave, though permitted a brief tunic, 'is called the slave flame. See how it comes down the back, swirling.' She illustrated this with a kneeling girl whose hair had been cut, trimmed and shaped in this fashion. 'This,' she said, moving to the next girl, 'is an upswept fashion. It appears sophisticated. It is a hair-do favored by some free women, but it is not outlawed for slaves. Its pretentiousness, suggesting superciliousness and arrogance, contrasts nicely with the actual reality of the slave. The girl who wears this must watch her step, lest the master grow impatient with her. If you are permitted, to wear this hair-do, make certain that you, after an initial resistance, if he permits it' yield to him as a particularly low and helpless girl. This hair-do here, on Crystal, with the bun in the back, is favored by many free women of the scribes. It, too, however, like the upswept hair-do has not been outlawed for slaves. Its apparent severity contrasts nicely with sexiness required of the slave. She may be freed of its severity, and brought into the natural modality of her yielding and submissive femininity, with as little as a single tug, thusly. There are some concepts in Gor that I feel are relevant in this lifestyle. Having seen this discussed a few times, and it's really annoying to see, there ARE differences between subs and slaves. The primary one is that if you're dealing with a sub, there is an expectation and responsibility to negotiate the limits. With a slave, there is no negotiation. The approach is vastly different. When dealing with a slave, the owner doesn't just shut off his brain and act like a total moron. You just don't do as you please with a slave, however, this doesn't give the slave a right to anything other than walk away.  With a slave, in regards to a certain activity, say, anal sex, or anal play in general, you don't ask the slave if it's 'okay'. You determine if 1.) the slave can tolerate it and 2.) the slave can participate in it safely and 3.) the slave will benefit from it. That is the foundation of slave training. Yes, the owner does have the right to address his/her own needs, and yes, the owner doesn't have to cater to the slave's needs, but if the slave is going to benefit and thrive, the owner is going to have to actually think about what they are doing and why, rather than being the selfish moron that has no business owning a kitten or puppy, let alone a slave. Having seen this discussed a few times, and it's really annoying to see, there ARE differences

If you would like to get a good idea of how I think in regards to relationships, get a couple of books, though they are out of print. Don't let the titles throw you. They're inexpensive and a good easy read.

I'm not big on journal entries. Some times I make the effort, like now, then later I delete them thinking, 'What the hell was I thinking?'I suppose it's part of the process of thinking and writing. The problem is, while there are some things I'd like to write about, there are some things that I know that I shouldn't. There are some aspects of my life that I simply do not want public and yet, I want to be able to express who I am as well as where I am. I've learned that journal entries could be about anything you want, activities, emotional states, profound personal moments, ideas and so on and they don't have to be consistently about one topic. That's funny, though, because for me, finding focus is a challenge. I suppose you could call me an explorer. If there's subject matter that sparks my interest, I'll delve into it pretty deeply. The net is wonderful for that. I can learn about a thousand opinions without having to talk to a single person and get a general consensus pretty quickly. I can discover extremes in opinions and intellectually average them out, compare the result to my internal sense of 'rightness', and form my own opinion. It's a pretty reliable method for me, but I'll be damned if I can explain how my internal sense can hit the target so consistently. Lately, I've been considering the concept of experience and competency and doing comparative research into them. I did this because something was bothering me and I wanted to resolve it. What bothered me was, as I was reading various profiles, many demanded a high degree of experience from doms but without quantifying it in any way. It seemed to be more of a buzz-word than anything specific to measure oneself against. In fact, I felt it was a damned poor use of the word, especially if some one listed it as a requirement or a descriptor of one's abilities and skills. For instance being experienced with a flogger is different than being competent with a flogger. Experienced to me simply implies that you've used a flogger. Competent implies that you have used a flogger and have useful enough skills to avoid being overly dangerous.Personally, I'd avoid using the word experienced in terms of skill, using competent instead. It provides a clearer picture of a person in their abilities.I'm not big on journal entries. Some times I make the effort, like now, then later I delete th
