9/24/2007 6:26:59 PM: Well, some things are so sad ...For the first time in 4 months and 13 day, the New York METS (Stands for: [M]y [E]ntire [T]eam [S]ucks) are not on first place.I swear! It is not easy to be a fan of this team as I have been for 38 years (almost all of my life). They were in first place from May until tonight. Now, there's no hope for a post-season.This will be my last post, here for a little while as I am going to completely re-format my computer so, I won't get back for a day or two. After that, I'll be around. It's not like I'll have to watch my METS in the play-offs or anything.Peace and comfort,                     Michael

9/19/2007 9:03:49 PM:       We're human beings and, as such, most of us have this deep-seeded need to mourn death.      Forgetting religious ceremony and all that that entails, we feel a need to send our loved ones off; to 'say goodbye' to 'finalize' relationships.      The reason for this is that we start to examine our own mortality. When we're young, we honestly believe that we're going to live forever.
      Remember when you were eight years old and you found out 'Aunt Sally' was forty? Remember how ancient that seemed?
      And then, you were thirty or thirty-five and 'Aunt Sally' died. You begin to realize that you have far more days behind you than you have in front of you. You start to question and you want to get angry.
      But, who do we get angry at? Well, we already removed religion from this discussion so, that can't be an option (for now).
      For some of us, we get angry at ourselves. Yes! Ourselves! Missed opportunities. Mistakes we made. Things we wish we'd never said. Things we wished we had said. Regret. Remorse. Self-loathing.
      Death takes its toll and not just from those who've gone on before. It kicks our ass, on a regular basis. I know it's kicking mine.
      The hurt. The selfishness. The feeling of uselessness; powerlessness.
      But, there's hope, If we chose to see it. Death is just a change in reality. We move forward from it, carrying new information and new feelings and new ideals.
      In a Tarot deck, the 'Death card' signifies change. Exactly! We don't have to lose our loved ones who've died. We need to realize that something's changed.
      Easier said than done unless you believe that they go on to something better. I do. I believe they go to a place that is perfect for them. So mote it be.
